DISH Statement on Introduction of the ‘USA Telecommunications Act of 2020’
Washington, D.C.

Today, DISH issued the following statement on introduction of the ‘USA Telecommunications Act of 2020.’ It is attributed to Jeff Blum, DISH SVP of Public Policy and Government Affairs.

“We commend Chairman Frank Pallone, Congressman Brett Guthrie, Congresswoman Doris Matsui and Ranking Member Greg Walden for introducing the bipartisan ‘Utilizing Strategic Allied (USA) Telecommunications Act of 2020’ in the U.S. House of Representatives. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the widespread availability of reliable broadband networks more important than ever. The grants created by this legislation will enhance mobile access, spur job creation, and boost American efforts to lead the global race to 5G.

Today’s legacy RAN networks are a closed ecosystem, dominated by foreign-owned companies. A robust, more diverse OpenRAN ecosystem developed by American vendors is critical to national security and unlocking the full economic benefits of 5G for American consumers and businesses.”
