DISH Applauds Proposed ‘STAVRA’ Legislation

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Sept. 5, 2014 – DISH Network L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of DISH Network Corp. (NASDAQ: DISH), issued the following statement today regarding the summary released by the Senate Commerce Committee for its Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act (STAVRA) proposal:
“We applaud Chairman Rockefeller and Ranking Member Thune for their bipartisan effort to ensure continuity of television service to more than 1.5 million distant signal customers and for seeking to reform the outdated and broken system of retransmission consent. The ‘Local Choice’ component of STAVRA would put an end to harmful broadcast television blackouts and put more power in the hands of consumers to control their television content. DISH looks forward to working with the full Senate Commerce Committee as STAVRA is considered.”
