DISH Applauds Proposed ‘Local Choice’ Legislation

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 12, 2014 – DISH Network L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of DISH Network Corp. (NASDAQ: DISH), issued the following statement today regarding the proposed “Local Choice” plan that the leadership of the Senate Commerce Committee introduced last Friday to update the retransmission consent system as part of the 2014 reauthorization of the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act (STELA):

“We applaud the bipartisan efforts of Chairman Rockefeller and Ranking Member Thune to update the decades-old retransmission consent regime in a manner that uses free-market concepts to put an end to harmful broadcast television blackouts.
