Paddy Rao

As Senior Vice President of Technology and Strategy, Paddy is focused on leveraging assets from across DISH to deliver new technologies and experiences for our customers, and improving product quality and process efficiencies.

 

Previously, Paddy was responsible for SLING TV’s Engineering and Operations teams, and was instrumental in leading the technology efforts to improve SLING’s service quality, including delivering a full refresh of the SLING user experience.

 

Before DISH, Paddy served as Vice President of Set-Top Box Engineering for Thomson, where he serviced pay-TV operators across four continents. Prior to, he was the CEO of a Silicon Valley startup funded by Grundig and Intel Capital. Paddy started his career as a staff scientist at Compression Labs, a pioneer in video compression.

 

Paddy received a Bachelor of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and holds a Master’s in Computer and Systems Engineering, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has also been granted more than 45 patents in the fields of video compression, networking, wireless location technologies and mobile multimedia.
